October 26-28th 2012 CANADIAN ROAR 1/10th OFF-ROAD NATS!
« on: May 22, 2012, 11:17:54 AM »
For the 1st time in over a decade there will be a ROAR Nats in Canada! ROAR is re-structuring and is serious about having races in Canada. This is great news for racers who wanted to attend the IFMAR Worlds. In the past to guarantee a spot at the worlds you would have to attend and rank at the US ROAR nationals.

For racers seeking sponsorship from manufactures, a good finish at ROAR Nationals will go a long way to secure or better a deal with any company.

Not to mention its great to race against others from across the Nation!

The plans to re-introduce ROAR National events into Canada are as follows.

2012
Sign up here http://events.rcsignup.com/events/displayEvent.cfm?ID=2824

1/10th scale Off-road Nationals

Plan for 2013

1/8th scale Off-road Nationals
1/10th scale On-road Nationals
1/10th scale Off-road Nationals

The location for the 2012 ROAR Off-road nats is R/C Ottawa at Sutton Aviation RC Speedway. With pitting located in a heated hanger and a domed track with a heated drivers stand, it made for the perfect location for a National event. Weather will not be a factor at this facility. It’s hard to ask racers to travel when weather could put the event at risk. With this track-playing host to one of the largest R/C events 2nd Annual Canadian RC Off-Road Championships (247 entries at the time of writing this), They know how to put a great event.

Date for the event will be October 26-28th 2012.

Friday: Practice
Saturday: Qualifying
Sunday: Racing

Classes

2wd buggy
4wd buggy
2wd Short Course
4wd Short Course
2wd Stadium Truck

When choosing a date for this event, ROAR did not want to step on any ones toes. Summer months are so tough when there are so many events across the country. RCPro Nats are in September, along with many other large regional events.

This is definitly a big deal, my concerns will be cost/needing a ROAR membership, but this is definitly a move in the right direction, I'll definitly be looking at the rules in the future regarding custom parts (or if anyone knows, can you run one off parts, if not the minimum production numbers)

It was a long time ago. But I bought a single event roar membership years ago for a race we went sown to. Hopefully the same thing is available today

I just bought my Roar membership and it was $25 for the year or something similar.

No big deal at all.

Wow, look at us now, we're "Bonnafide"!

This is truely great news, this race will bring our club and Billy's track great exposure nationally and throughout the RC world.

Now to keep an eye out for a nice thin pair of (RC radio friendly) gloves!

Nice job Tom, Billy & all those who worked behind the scenes to make this happen.

It's great to see the positive feedback, This is a great for racing in Canada.

As Mr. Zufelt pointed out, the ROAR membership is only $25.00. I have made sure that racers can opt for a weekend membership. The Cost is $5-10 for that. I really don't want racers not attending cause of a yearly membership.

As far as one off parts, that isn't much of a factor. The main things are bodies and tires. Because we will run modified classes or open, things like esc's and motor's won't come into play.

So the biggest thing is as long as it meets there dimensions, the proper whells and tires, and the right amount of wheels spinning I'll be good? So running things like on off longer/shorter chassis won't be an issue? (as long as you fit in the box)

You should go to the roar site and download the rules for the class your building something for.  That way you know what you can/can't do.
