Looking for Mini-Z racers!
« on: August 24, 2016, 09:22:32 AM »
Hello all,

I am looking to see if there is any existing Mini-Z club in Ottawa? I have seen a couple of posts but nothing as of late.
I am interested in racing a couple of times a week and on weekends.
Currently, I practice on a mini 96 with the extension kit. (Can't figure out how to load a pic of it!)
I have some older cars but would like to get back into the hobby if there are enough racers out there!
Would be willing to combine tracks in order to create a bigger, better racing experience!
If there is already a community of racers for this class please let me know with links!
Thanks to all interested

I always wanted a mini Z.

At one point I had 3 micro desert truck (losi) and we had a blast in the basement with my kids.

Anyway, I'm curious to see the result of your post.

There are a few people with Mini Z and there is a track that they race at in one of their basements.  it has been kept pretty low key.  If I knew more and could get in on the racing I would get one.

Hi Ben,
Yes, I do have a RCP Mini 96 with extension set up but I don't have a lap timer.
I was thinking about renting out some gym space if there was enough interest (20 people) but that might be a tough as there have not been too many responses about Mini-Z racers!
I'm hoping that after the weekend, a couple more people will have chimed in!

What I was really hoping for was enough interest to start a small club and join an online racing league. It would require more track but I want to figure out if there is enough interest before spending money on more track or a new timing system. The 18 track layouts to choose from are on RCP's website: http://www.rcptracks.com/rcptracklayouts.html
There's also a Mini-Z group out of Toronto MC3 http://www.minicarclubofcanada.com/ looking to maybe createsomething similar here in Ottawa?

Any thoughts, jump into the conversation!

Hi All,

Hi All,

Looking to see if there is anyone selling Kyosho Mini Z or Losi products and RCP Tracks? (1:24 Scale)

I am in the market for a lap counter as well.

Going to try and start a small racing club for 1:24 scale racing. (Anyone interested in getting involved, please feel free to contact me!)

PS. CrazyBen, let me know if your crew has started up again as I would be very interested!

Thanks

Patrick

What do you guys run on? I used to race TamTech's in my basement back in the 90's. We had a 30'x10' chunk of carpet and used plastic drop ceiling T-rails with velcro on the bottom to form the course. Big Fun!

Here's an interesting link regarding MiniZ track.

RCP Mini 96 track with extension set up but no lap timer. I'm always interested in this scale however due to a lack of interest, I'm not prepared to shell out for a lap timer just yet. Perhaps if someone is selling a used one. It's all boxed up at the moment but I would be willing to get back into it if we had a min of 10 people.

Thanks for the link but it's a local pick-up in the US.

I have a track in my basement, and a kyosho IC tag lap counter right now it is just for friends party or personal practice, I can do an open house by request, let me know if someone is really interested.

Hi maherbeemer,

Due to a lack of interest and because I have been racing 1/10 this past summer I packed up the Mini-Z cars. They are older models that run on brushed motors and use old transmitter/receivers. Fun, but I don't want to invest in upgrading or purchasing new cars/parts without any major interest.

i have really gotten into 1/10 again and will probably be sticking with it for awhile as my son is about to start next season in 1/10.

There is a new Mini-Z track in Toronto, GTARaceway should you want to make the trip!  http://www.liverc.com/news/announcements/16150-Breathtaking_GTA_Raceway_scale_Mini-Z_and_drifting_course_in_Montreal_to_open_for_testing_next_week/

and also check out MC3 Mini-Car Club Canada at http://minicarclubofcanada.com/

I'll be keeping an eye on the class to see if anything starts up, who knows, maybe Mini-Z will make it's way to Ottawa?
