2016 / 2017 Schedule Confirmed
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:16:23 AM »
On Road RC Racing 2016 / 2017

Updated Oct 3rd, 2016

Only a few Weeks to the On Road RC Racing season opener October 2nd. Much stays the same as last season with a few minor changes in the interest of growing our numbers and creating some inter-club continuity. As our general rules were already pretty much in line with the Canadian On Road Nationals the changes are minimal and focused mainly on our “Sportsman” class where we differ on wing size and tire permissions.

Our core classes are 17.5 Stock Sedan and USGT / Sportsman. Additional classes will be run based numbers. We will run F1 / Mini / 1/12 Pan car or VTA provided there are a minimum of 5 cars in attendance to register. One or all classes may be run if the numbers warrant the class inclusion for the event. It is up to you folks to bring the numbers if you want to run your F1 / Mini / Pan car / VTA.

We have a loaner car program that I am hoping to grow as the season progresses. Two basic “beginner” cars currently in the stable (TC4 / TC3) will be set up for USGT / Sportsman intended to let would be newbies get their feet wet. I have a couple of RCO members ready to help support new RC racers as mentors and mechanical “Pit crew” help. One of the keys is to foster new participants and help promote our hobby. I am hoping to have a full race prepped “renter” for the next step RC racer later in the season. Renter entry will be $35.00 (class entry fee plus rental) with proceeds going into ongoing maintenance of the rental program. Rentals will need to be reserved at minimum 2 days prior to the event to ensure we have time to prep the kits.  I am always looking for spare batteries and electronic go parts, tires or even chassis, if you can help out please let me know.

This season there will also be a few changes to the routine. Set-up will be done the morning of the event and practice time will be determined by how efficiently the track is assembled. Needless to say, the more bodies we have helping out the more open practice we all get.

For 2016 / 2017 there will be no membership fee, as a result race day rates have changed to help cover our increased operating cost.

Race day rates:

First Class entry $25.00
Second / Third class $5.00 (each additional class)
Kids 16 and under $15.00

We will be doing 50/50 draws and raffles throughout the season on interesting prizes to help support continued maintenance of the track and timing hardware. Some of our timing hardware will need some repair / replacement this year so we do have specific goals in mind.

Our 2016 / 2017 Schedule has been confirmed with the Maple Ridge Center and the canteen services on site will continue for this year. Check out our host facility on line as they have much to offer in the way of facility rental for non RC events as well.

IMPORTANT: “Spirit of Competition”

If it is not in the rules and does not encompass the spirit of controlled RC racing with realistic scale looking cars consider it illegal. The intent is to provide a level playing field and put the emphasis on “Fun friendly competition” Regarding TECH - we will be running on the honor system with each driver responsible for ensuring that their car is legal under the “RCO Basic Class Specification” with top three finishers in each main must be willing to submit their RC racer for a quick inspection should there be a protest from the run group. An inspection / self tech table will be provided for all participants to use at any time with the basic regulations posted for quick reference. Minimum Ride Heights are required to protect the running surface – the carpet is expensive and we want to keep it in good order for many years to come. Always use common sense and safety precautions when charging battery packs and please respect the facility we are fortunate to be permitted to use.

See you all in October! 8)

Please note the base fee for adults has been updated from $28 to $26, I am trying to keep the books "balanced" at the same time keeping the cost reasonable.  :)

The mentioned 17.5 tires size appears to be a typo ;) just to avoid confusion

Thanks Billy, I am trying to keep some consistency with years past while moving others to line up with other clubs. I would love to see Mini come back and to see F1 cars on our track. We just need to get people talking and committed to bringing the hardware.  Emphasis is still on Fun competition ! 8)

Please be aware of a schedule update!

The event date originally for the 18th of December has been changed to Saturday December 17 due to a MRC schedule conflict.

Thanks,

I will have a self tech table set up for everybody to use during the event with a copy of the general regs, scale, ride height gauge and some stick on chassis lead for those who might be a bit light for their class   8)
