Those are the USGT rules pulled from ROAR.

Why is USGT the only class with a 8.40 volts limit ?

It actually applies to all Sedan classes... for our club We will not be testing batteries, however everyone is expected to follow safe and proper charging practices.

A fully charged 2 cel Lipo is 8.4volts, any higher and it is over charged. 7.4 volts is the nominal voltage used on the label.

We and other clubs will have to face the HV batteries that are allowed to charge higher(without blowing up) and of course will make our cars go faster.

Even if you have a HV battery if you charge it on normal LIPO charge it will come out at 8.4 Volts.

the point of the voltage limit is safety, I know our insurance won't cover fire due to an overcharged battery. The point is, is it worth all the risk to get an extra tenth at the cost of someone getting hurt? Be respectful, no one needs to get hurt for a little extra speed for "club racing", this is supposed to be fun.

Somewhere on this forum it probably says what time the doors open on Sunday mornings for track setup, but I can't find it.

Please refresh my memory so I can set my alarm.

Cheers!

The chemistry in lipo and lihv is actually the same, they're both equally safe at that voltage, aka sketchy. There physical construction is a bit different to basically hide swelling better. No place in racing for sure

We tried running the Supastox a few seasons ago as a entry class, but it never took off for various reasons. I currently own 2 of them and the only other racer who consistantly ran his, currently has it for sale on this forum for $80. If you want to try the 1/12 scale class here in ottawa you should look at the many 1/12 pan cars available from Team associated RC12R5.2, Calandra Xti-WC, Yokomo, VBC Lightning 12, etc

The Supastox just isn't competitive with these purpose built 1/12th pan cars.

« Reply #26 on: October 12, 2016, 12:16:16 PM »
Couldn't find the spec for transponder that would be used at chesterville and other RC0ttawa sites...  anyone have a universally recognized one for sale?

Thanks

All the local tracks use the rc3 loop, so all amb/mylaps/mrt transponders work except the 3 wire mylaps rc4 transponder, the 2 wire rc4 hybrid does work.
