Posted what, a day after yokomo announces there similar offering? With the delivery date being a bit later then a typical losi kit, it's safe to say the timing isn't a coincidence

Dude, no way.  TLR already has their box art done and ready, a video intro, promotional stuff and its up on their website - that all takes time to do well in advance.  If anything Yokomo just made their parts as fast as possible and got the "M put on theirs and got it out with a basic photo.  I'd call it a coincidence, but whatever, pick yer poison, both are good buggies.  It's always up to the wheelman.

But all that stuff is done before a release, so releasing it a couple weeks earlier is feasible

I remember, not long ago, people bashing on the DEX210 because a kit that offers different configurations in one box will be no good on any of them.
Oh well...
K1 - Speed Passion - Trackstar 7.5
VBC Firebolt - Viper - Hobbywing 8.5
----------------------------------------------
Losi XXX SCT - Traxxas Stampede VXL 4x4 - Latraxx - Dromida SCT

Yes for rear motor and mid motor ...
The idea was good but in reality for carpet / astro the geometry of the car is completely different from the requirements of dirt. Hence the adjustments to raise and lower front and rear inner and outer hinge pins to correct the geometry changes that are required much like the KC and KD cars from Schuey. Great ideas from TLR
The new TLR isnt including a rear motor version.
Many companies tried the flip flop before jumping off the band wagon after failing at it, not just Durango.
