I've never really raced onroad before, I have a vattera v-100, it has the indepentant suspension and the 190mm track width, and I have an associated 17.5 motor I could throw in it. Would that be legal in the race for stock sedan?

Hi,
If your car is a 1/10 scale, I'm 99.9% sure that there will be no problem. The person in charge (Guy) could confirm it.

The group is always happy to meet new racer ;)

There are some similarities between the v-100 and Tamiya TT01 or even the TC4 from Team Associated. Although the Vaterra chassis is likely better suited for USGT or CVTA (21.5) there is nothing stopping you from putting on some proper tires and body with the 17.5 motor.

General rules below.....

Stock Touring Car - 17.5 Blinky

Chassis: Any 1/10 scale 4wd or Fwd touring car chassis – maximum track width of 190mm – Chassis must have four wheel independent suspension.
Motor: 17.5 ROAR Legal brushless – No D3.5 or NON-ROAR legal rotors – Timing is permitted
ESC: ROAR approved “Blinky mode” ESC
Weight: 1380 grams minimum
Tires: Any rubber 1/10 Touring car tire is permitted (ie Schumacher / Sorex type)
Ride Height: 5mm minimum
Battery: Any hard case 2S 7.4V nominal Lipo (Max allowable voltage 8.44V)
Body: Any Sedan style body on the ROAR T2 190mm Touring car approved list

USGT / Sportsman*

(Note: VTA Spec cars are permitted in Sportsman – If there is minimum of “5” VTA cars in attendance a full VTA be run as a full class)

Body Specifications: 190mm or 200mm bodies - It is highly preferred that bodies are detailed in a race type livery, real or imaginary - Any scale molded wing can be used - Lexan wings must not exceed a maximum height of 10mm including side dams.
* Sportsman - Lexan wings are open with Sportsman class specific weight  (See Weight Spec below)
Chassis: Any 1/10 scale, 4WD or FWD touring car chassis - Must have four wheel independent suspension - Any era or brand chassis is allowed.
Tire & Wheel: Spec. tire = Ride USGT Spec Tire RIE24025. - Tires (set of 4) available through Great Hobbies or Gravity RC with part numbers - SKU GRC124 (pre-mount), SKU GRC125 (tires only) - No grinding of tread, except for the ridge formed from the production mold - Any 24mm to 26mm spoked (non dish) rim is permitted.
* Sportsman - Any Open 24mm to 26mm Touring car “Dish” rim is permitted with a weight penalty (See Weight Spec below)
Motor: 21.5 brushless: Any Approved 21.5 brushless motor - Motor timing advance is allowed - 12.51 mm rotor diameter maximum - There is no FDR (gear ratio) limit for this class.
ESC: "blinky" mode must be used - No "Boost" or "Turbo" is allowed
Battery: Any hard cased 2s, 7.4v nominal LiPo - must not exceed a maximum of 8.40v.
Ride Height: Minimum ride height is 5mm.
Weight: Four Wheel Drive (4WD) chassis (USGT) = Minimum 1380g in USGT race-ready trim - Front Wheel Drive (FWD) chassis = No Minimum weight
*Sportsman - Four Wheel Drive (4WD) chassis (Sportsman) = Minimum 1450g in Open Tire / Open Wing trim

I was using a Tamiya TT-01R when I started with my son in CVTA, we were slow but it was a great way to get started!

We do have a USGT rental car available also !

Absolutely legal and you'd just need to ensure that you have a 5mm ride height as a minimum. If I remember correctly, this chassis uses fixed tie rods so you cannot alter the front toe or any of the camber settings. The stock friction shocks might not be the best for the speeds of a 17.5 motor, but you'll never know until you try. The shaft drive is certainly smooth and free running and with a set of Sorex 28R slick it would be interesting to see how well it runs. Bring it out and have a try.
