Personally I have a 2wd & 4wd.  My son also races 2wd & 4wd.

I have the electronics ready and I am waiting on an 1/8 roller to install them into and then I will be joining the 1/8 scale class!  8)

I've got mixed opinions on maxamps packs. Great Hobbies should have everything ya need, I'm sure the guys there can educate you on the various electronic options for 1/8 buggies as there is quite a few.

I have a Tekin rx8 Gen2 ESC and SMC 1900kv motor. From what I have seen you can't go wrong with Tekin rx8 or Hobbywing xr8, there may be others but I would think those are the popular ones.  I think the Tekin t8 motors are common, as are hobbywing and the SMC.  I got my motor from begoracing http://begoracing.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=91_255&product_id=1087 and grabbed the tekin rx8 used.  Most of this is based on info from others that I have talked to that have more experience in RC than me !
